Gateway Community Services' Chief Executive Officer Gary Powers has more than 25 years of hands on leadership and clinical experience in the Behavioral Treatment industry. As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Powers is responsible for the entire Gateway Health System and all of its operations.

In 1997, Mr. Powers joined Gateway as a staff nurse in the Adolescent Services department. Prior to his 2005 promotion to Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Powers held various positions, including Director of Adult and Nursing Services, Chief of Nursing and Operations, and Executive Vice President. 

Before joining Gateway, Mr. Powers served in the military for 21 years.  He served in the United States Army for 17 years of active duty in which he planned, developed, and evaluated training programs designed to enhance the individual skills of Army personnel assigned to medical units. Prior to that, he served 14 years in clinical and supervisory roles for the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene where he provided direct patient care, conducted patient assessments, and individual and group counseling and provided first and second line supervision to subordinate professional and paraprofessional staffs.
